Last updated October 07 2026.
- "We/Us/Our" - the creator and operator Brian Flynn
- "You" - any user accessing our website or any service we provide
BRIANS NEWS is and always will be a personal project.
Newsletter
We run our newsletter and mailing list with our own instances of Listmonk, a newsletter and mailing list manager, and Docker Mailserver, an email server.
These are both hosted securely by us on a VPS located in the United Kingdom through OVHcloud. Only you and BRIANS NEWS has access to your data.
After subscribing to our newsletter, we have access to the following data:
- Your email address, to be able to send our newsletter to you
- Your name, if it has been provided
- Your subscription status (i.e. confirmed, uncomfirmed, or unsubscribed)
We also track whether or not our emails are being opened (via a tracking pixel), but this data is not linked to you. We don't track what links you have clicked in our emails, as this information isn't necessary to us.
You can unsubscribe from our newsletter, delete your information, or blacklist yourself from our mailing list at any point by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link located in the footer of any email you recieve from us.
Server logs
Our reverse proxy (Caddy), aforementioned mail server, and the NGINX instance serving this website each keep their own logs of incoming connections and requests. These logs may include your IP address, browser user agent, referrer, status codes, and the pages you've visited.
This information is gathered by default by these services. We do not actively check these logs unless there is a problem with a particular service.
